Getafe Vs. Deportivo La Coruna
Deportivo make the tough trip this weekend, where they will be hosted by Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonzo. The hosts are actually in 10th place on twelve points. They lost 2-0 to Real Madrid last weekend. Getafe had some problems with scoring goals last season, so departure of strikers Uche and Esteban Granero was bad news. They have scored 12 times in nine rounds. The hosts will hope to be aggressive enough to create and profit of their chances. David Cortes picked up an injury in the Copa del Rey match and he is the only player who will be out.
La Coruna want to improve their mid-table position from season 2008/09. This season they started very well and have sixteen points after nine rounds. The visitors will be looking for their sixth win today. They have dangerous team with some great players such Guardado, Filipe Luis and Juca. With some luck and great defense, Deportivo may do some troubles to every team in Primera Division. They play attractive football and have a solid squad. Draw is most probably for me.
Tenerife Vs. Malaga
Tenerife have looked comfortable on their return to La Liga after several years in the second. They are in 13th place on nine points for three home wins out of four at the Heliodoro Rodriguez. On the other side, their away form is poor and lost all away matches. The hosts have had problems in front of goal. They netted only five times in nine matchdays. The main goal of them is to stay up.
Malaga are in 20th position five points behind Tenerife. They have picked up only one point from a possible 24 sice their opening-day win against Atletico Madrid. Boquerones are weaker in actual season because several important players as Duda, Eliseu and Lolo left the club. Improve or repeat 8th position from season 2008/09 will by hard task. Lower table finish is more likely after changes in squad. Both teams want to win. I think it will be offensive football and more goals. Both teams to score and over 2,5 goals.
FC Barcelona Vs. Mallorca
Barcelona hammered 6-1 Real Zaragoza in their last home game and after that drew 1-1 at Osasuna. Barca are still in 1st place on 23 points with impressive score 24:5. Title-holders are unbeaten in nine games and have conceded only two goals in their last five Primera Divisions matches. They look even stronger like in the previous season. Guardiola has often rotated his squad and rather than produce an unsettled side, that has kept the players fresh and keen to take their chance whenever it comes their way.
Mallorca‘s results have improved in recent times and they are sitting in 5th place with 17 points. There is certainly more than enough quality in the squad. The islanders won all five game at ONO Estadi with impressive score 13:1. On the other side, on away ground the team haven’t been just as strong. They were defeated by Sporting Gijon and Sevilla. The only two points came when drawing 1-1 to Villarreal and Atletico. They will play on the counter-attack and will be probably in deep defense today. Convincing home win…home win with hcp.
Atletico Madrid Vs. Real Madrid
It’s the 145rd edition of El Derbi Madrileño. The derby could serve as the perfect tonic for both teams to bounce back in style. And the best way to silence the critics is to let the football do the talking and by putting on a real exhibition on the field. Los Colchoneros have won only once in the league. They drew 1-1 against nine-man Mallorca in their last home match at Vicente Calderon. Moreover, they have conceded 19 goals so far. Atleti are also hoping home advantages can help level out the playing field tomorrow. The players need the support of the fans in this time. Beating Real would be very good for the hosts to change the recent trend, but the recent history, statistics and head to head record absolutely don’t favour Atletico.
Real have 22 points after nine matchdays and are in second place behind Barcelona. Last weekend they won 2-0 over Getafe at Santiago Bernabeu. Saturday game won’t be easy as Atleti have their tactics that already disturbed one of the favourites in their plans. But it’s these kind of matches that often separate the champions from the pretenders and Madrid will be tested. They want to win, but they know they will face a strong team who will be determined to pick up the victory after some bad results in recent weeks. Both teams need to find their identity, which comes with time. They try to recover form and confidence. The clash of two offensive teams…Both teams to score and over 2,5 goals.
