Arsenal vs Tottenham

(Saturday - 12.45pm)

It's getting closer to bonfire night & the fireworks could be set to fly in this traditionally intense London derby that both Arsenal & Tottenham fans look forward to although history suggest the home side have a clear dominance in terms of results.

Guy Fawkes Night or Bonfire Night is an annual celebration on the evening of 5 November. It marks the downfall of the Gunpowder Plot of 5 November 1605, in which a number of Catholic conspirators, including Guy Fawkes, attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament, in London, United Kingdom.

Arsenal & Tottenham have clashed 17 times in the Premier League at Arsenal's home ground, whether that be in the past at Highbury or more recently at The Emirates, & of those games Arsenal have only lost 1 having won 9 with 7 draws to go with that.

That statistic is a frightening prospect for Tottenham fans & so is the fact Arsenal have scored an average of more that 4 goals per home league match so far this season.

In fact 21 goals have been scored in 4 league games at the Emirates & the corresponding fixture last year finished in an incredibly dramatic 4-4 draw so goals could well be the order of the day again here.

Arsenal are in very good form overall but Arsene Wenger will certainly expect Arsenal to get back to winning ways after two frustrating draws when holding commanding positions in both games & so we expect Arsenal to go all out with their fluent, flowing passing game.

Key architects of that football are Cesc Fabregas, Andrei Arshavin & Robert Van Persie and all three are in excellent form & really do present a massive threat to Tottenham here.

Tottenham will be looking to this game to bounce back after their shock home defeat to Stoke City & in that sense a game against their arch local rivals is the perfect game to give them focus & motivation.

Tottenham have had a very good start to the season & so they know they have the quality to go to Arsenal & be positive in their play but their failure to score against Stoke City must be a concern & they may have to score a couple of goals to even get a result in this match.

These Arsenal v Tottenham derby clashes always have a special atmosphere & given how both teams like to play we are expecting a cracking game of football & so for us that leads us to believe it will suit Arsenal's style & they look a solid bet to win this, extend their excellent sequence at home to Tottenham & pass the bragging rights back to the Arsenal fans.

Betting Recommendations:

  • Outright Match Betting: Arsenal to win
  • Correct Score options: Arsenal to win 2-1/3-1
  • First goalscorer each way/Player to score anytime options: Van Persie/Arshavin
  • Scorecast options: Van Persie/Arshavin score 1st & Arsenal win 2-1/3-1
  • Double Result: Arsenal Half Time & Full Time

Stoke City vs Wolves

(Saturday - 3.00pm)

Interesting game in prospect here with two teams that clash in terms of the style but who both share the same will to give their best.

Tony Pulis & Mick McCarthy are two very honest, straightforward managers who know what their teams are capable of & realistic about their ability but equally they both demand their player always give 100% commitment to the team cause.

Stoke City achieved probably their best result in the Premier League last weekend when showing tremendous bravery & defending to withstand a barrage of attacking pressure & win 1-0 at high flying Tottenham.

Although that win may not have told the whole story about that game, that victory does illustrate how far Stoke City have come under Tony Pulis & without doubt they should now be recognised as a solid, fully fledged Premier League club.

The basis of Stoke City's tremendous success is their immense home form with only the very best teams proving too good for them at home & the Stoke City players will again have great confidence in going for the win in this game.

Mick McCarthy's Wolves side are giving it their very best shot being back in the Premier League & nobody can criticise the commitment, effort & endeavour of the Wolves squad this season.

Wolves have attempted to be positive in every game this season & that has brought mixed results for them & the fact they lie 4th from bottom probably does not truly represent their form this season.

Wolves have one clear target this season which is of course to stay up & they know they need to start finding more consistency & displaying more quality in all areas if they are to get more positive results in the Premier League.

Both managers & teams will believe that positive results can be gained from this fixture so that should make it a fair game & the clash of styles add a different level of interest to it but from a betting perspective we cannot ignore the strength of Stoke City at home & they look a rock solid bet to get another home win here.

Betting Recommendations:

  • Outright Match Betting: Stoke City to win
  • Correct Score options: Stoke City to win 2-0/2-1
  • First goalscorer each way/Player to score anytime options: Beattie/Fuller
  • Scorecast options: Beattie/Fuller score 1st & Stoke City to win 2-0/2-1
  • Double Result: Stoke City Half Time & Full Time

Burnley vs Hull City

(Saturday - 3.00pm)

This is a massively important game for both Burnley & Hull City because both teams know they face an incredibly tough fight for survival & the results from these fixtures will determine their ultimate fate this season.

Burnley have admitted & their form figures clearly suggest that their home is what is going to be key in the survival bid & they will be determined to get back to winning ways after being beaten at home by Wigan last weekend.

Owen Coyle has declared he has great belief in his players & he is fully committed to playing a very positive style of football which does give them a good chance of winning their home matches but one that also allows the opposition to play as well.

That open minded approach cost them against Wigan & they will be more mindful of that in this game but we still expect Burnley to go all out for the home win here.

Phil Brown knows that Hull City face a massive task to stay up this year & while we give him credit for the positive exterior he always presents, he must be privately concerned about how fragile & limited Hull City look with the pressure on him mounting by the day.

Hull City have only won 2 of their opening 10 league games & their away form is so poor that they simply cannot come into this game full of confidence & it will take a fantastic performance to get any positive result from this match.

This should be an open game because both teams are defensively fragile but the most important factor in this game is home advantage & we feel Burnley rate a fantastic bet to get another vital home win.

Betting Recommendations:

  • Outright Match Betting: Burnley to win
  • Correct Score options: Burnley to win 2-1/3-1
  • First goalscorer each way/Player to score anytime options: Fletcher/Blake/Nugent
  • Scorecast options: Fletcher/Blake/Nugent score 1st & Burnley win 2-1/3-1
  • Double Result: Burnley Half Time & Full Time

Everton vs Aston Villa

(Saturday - 3.00pm)

These two sides usually put on a game worth watching & last seasons encounter provided loads of entertainment & excitement so we are really looking forward to this one.

This is a massively important game for both sides because both are chasing a win for different reasons so that should ensure both will be positive in the match & make for an open game.

Everton desperately need a win to lift the spirits of everybody at the club because the last 2 weeks has been tough with a run of demanding games in a short space of time & unfortunately poor results to go with it.

David Moyes will be looking for a strong, positive response from his players & to be fair they did show a great deal of character to come back from 2-0 at Bolton so although they lost that game, that should give them the spirit to be positive in this match.

What Everton have to do is to revert to their strengths of being defensively strong & well organised which then gives the quality within the team the chance to win the games for them but they will be tested by Aston Villa & will have to prove their strength.

Aston Villa have had a very good start to the season in the leauge & will come into this game boosted by their passage through to the quarter finals of the Carling Cup.

Aston Villa have very good recent form in the Premier League & certainly they look a confident side playing with a determination to be hard to beat & to get positive results.

We are expecting a good game here but equally a very competitive one & the record of this fixture suggests a tight battle on the day & a scoring draw is a very tempting value bet worth taking here.

Betting Recommendations:

  • Outright Match Betting: Draw
  • Correct Score options: 1-1/2-2
  • First goalscorer each way/Player to score anytime options: Saha/Cahill/Fellaini
  • Scorecast options: Saha/Cahill/Fellaini score 1st & 1-1/2-2
  • Double Result: Half Time Everton & Full Time Draw

Fulham vs Liverpool

(Saturday - 3.00pm)

A good, competitive encounter looks to be on the cards here with both Fulham & Liverpool looking to improve further & build momentum for the next part of the season.

Fulham did struggle at the start of the season but they are beginning to find their form & importantly they are starting to become hard to beat again which was the main reason for their success last season.

Fulham are unbeaten in their last 4 games including good performances to come back from behind to get draws at West Ham & even more impressively when 2-0 at Manchester City and that shows the character & commitment within the Fulham squad.

Roy Hodgson has definitely added quality to the Fulham squad this season & they will certainly be confident of giving a performance against Liverpool & make it a real test for them in this game.

Liverpool are having a nightmare run with 5 defeats in their last 6 but of course the one result & performance that stands out is their 2-0 victory against Manchester United last weekend.

That victory should give Liverpool a big boost in confidence & should give them the belief to start putting results together but at the same time they will have to avoid being complacent against Fulham.

It will be very interesting to see if Steven Gerrard & Fernando Torres return in this game because clearly their presence in the team would give them a further boost but at the same time their absence good do the reverse so that could be key.

In the previous 8 Premier League clashes here, Fulham & Liverpool have never shared a draw but we se this being a very close, competitive game & we feel Fulham have enough to be able to force a scoring draw & that appeals as the best value bet for this match.

Betting Recommendations:

  • Outright Match Betting: Draw
  • Correct Score options: 1-1/2-2
  • First goalscorer each way/Player to score anytime options: Murphy/Duff/Dempsey
  • Scorecast options: Murphy/Dempsey score 1st & 1-1/2-2
  • Double Result: Fulham Half Time & Draw Full Time

Portsmouth vs Wigan Athletic

(Saturday - 3.00pm)

In terms of glamour & overall profile, this game must rank as one of the lowest in the Premier League calendar but it is a highly fascinating contest & one that is absolutely crucial to both sides.

After a completely nightmare start with 7 straight defeats in the League, Portsmouth managed to overcome that by winning away at Wolves & they since gained another away point at Hull City on Saturday.

Portsmouth's next major priority is stopping the rot at home & they need to quickly get home wins on the board so this is a truly massive game to kick start that.

The positive thing for Paul Hart & everybody connected to Portsmouth is the fact the Porsmouth players have displayed real fight, commitment to the cause & they are actually playing quite well in games so that should give them a degree of confidence for this game.

Wigan come into this game off the back of an excellent run of results with impressive wins over Chelsea & Burnley and a very solid home draw against Manchester City.

Roberto Martinez has really started to have a very positive impact at Wigan & it does now appear the players are getting used to his style of play which is positive, passing football & the Wigan fans are certainly enjoying what they are seeing.

So far in the 8 Premier Leagues clashes between these two sides the score is Portsmouth 4 & Wigan 4 with no draws so clearly this is a very tight game to call & on that basis we like the look of a scoring draw here & that looks the best way to go for betting value as well.

Betting Recommendations:

  • Outright Match Betting: Draw
  • Correct Score options: 1-1/2-2
  • First goalscorer each way/Player to score anytime options: Rodallega/N'Zogbia
  • Scorecast options: Boateng/Rodallega score 1st & 1-1/2-2
  • Double Result: Wigan Half Time & Draw Full Time

Bolton vs Chelsea

(Saturday - 3.00pm)

The fixture list has it quirks sometimes & that is certainly the case here with these two teams playing each other for the second time within 4 days after their Carling Cup clash on Wednesday.

That fixture was played at Stamford Bridge & Chelsea were comfortable 4-0 winners but in terms of this game that result has very little relevance apart from the fact Chelsea continue in great form & have a strong team confidence.

These two sides actually shared what was one of the most memorable fixtures of last season when Chelsea won 4-3 after leading 4-0 & that game will have an impact here in the fact it will give the Bolton players the belief to go into this game confident despite what happened in the cup game.

Current form is the most important guide to any fixture & both sides are in decent form with Bolton winning at home & generally playing with confidence while Chelsea have smashed 15 goals in their last 3 emphatic wins so this really should be a good game.

Bolton will be looking to build on their home win against Everton to get consistency while Chelesa know they have to prove themselves again after 2 defeats away at Wigan & Aston Villa so both teams will want to attempt to win the game.

Despite Chelsea beating Bolton 4-0 in midweek, this should be a very different, competitive game & it will not be easy for Chelsea but they do have a fantastic record at Bolton & they look a solid bet to win this & extend that record here.

Betting Recommendations:

  • Outright Match Betting: Chelsea to win
  • Correct Score options: Chelsea to win 2-0/2-1
  • First goalscorer each way/Player to score anytime options: Drogba/Lampard/Terry
  • Scorecast options: Drogba/Lampard/Terry score 1st & Chelsea win 2-0/2-1
  • Double Result: Chelsea Half Time & Full Time

Sunderland vs West Ham United

(Saturday - 3.00pm)

Very, very interesting clash here with Sunderland looking to maintain their excellent home form in the league & West Ham United looking to try & build some consistency in their own results.

Sunderland have started life under the guidance of Steve Bruce in excellent style & sitting in 8th place in the Premier League table illustrates how well it has all gone & particularly at home with 4 wins from 5 in the league.

The level of quality within the Sunderland squad has definitely increased this year & most importantly they have added real attacking quality & a recognised goal threat in Darren Bent which has given them an important outlet in games.

This is a very important match for Sunderland because they will be looking to bounce back after defeat against Birmingham City in the League & also being knocked out of the Carling Cup so we do expect Sunderland to be very positive in this match.

West Ham United come into this match sitting 2nd bottom of the Premier League & desperate looking for their first league win since the opening day of the season.

Gianfranco Zola's team know they need to start finding consistency in their performances but at least their brave comeback to get a 2-2 draw against Arsenal should give them a boost to their confidence levels & did illustrate the quality they have when they play with belief.

The key to West Ham United's performance in this match is likely to be their defensive strength because they have looked fragile & they will have to be strong against the likes of Darren Bent & Kenwyn Jones if they are to get a positive result here.

We are looking forward to this game because both teams will be intent on playing attacking football & looking to win the match but the key for us looks to be the home advantage of Sunderland & given their strength at home, Sunderland do look a decent bet to get three more points here.

Betting Recommendations:

  • Outright Match Betting: Sunderland to win
  • Correct Score options: Sunderland to win 2-0/2-1
  • First goalscorer each way/Player to score anytime options: Bent/Jones/Malbranque
  • Scorecast options: Bent/Jones/Malbranque score 1st & Sunderland win 2-0/2-1
  • Double Result: Sunderland Half Time & Full Time

Manchester United vs Blackburn Rovers

(Saturday - 5.30pm)

Football can be very cruel at times & Blackburn Rovers must feel everything is against the right having to play Manchester United away just as everything starts to go wrong.

Blackburn Rovers come into this game with the squad having been hit by an outbreak of swine flu which is bad enough but their incredibly poor record at Old Trafford will make them feel 10 times worse.

Blackburn Rovers have only won one of the 15 Premier League matches played between these two sides at Old Trafford & their incredibly poor away record this season paints a sorry picture of 4 defeats & 16 goals conceded with only 3 scored.

The final painful element for Blackburn Rovers is the fact that they have to face a Manchester United side that will be absolutely determined, focused & driven to put right what went so badly wrong against Liverpool & Blackburn Rovers could well be on the end of another backlash.

The Manchester United performance against Liverpool lacked any quality, determination & most disappointingly a desire to win and there is no way Alex Ferguson will tolerate another performance like that so we do expect Manchester United to go all out to win this fixture & determined to show their true ability.

Blackburn Rovers have conceded 11 goals in their last two away games at Arsenal & Chelsea so the omens are not good & while we don't expect Manchester United to be getting 5 or 6, we do expect a very comfortable home victory for Manchester United & they will certainly look to get the goals to kick start their season again.

The outright match markets for this game offer no real punting interest with the long odds-on quote for a Manchester United win so correct score & first goalscorer markets look the way to go for betting value in this match.

Betting Recommendations:

  • Outright Match Betting: Manchester United to win
  • Correct Score options: Manchester United 2-0/3-0
  • First goalscorer each way/Player to score anytime options: Rooney/Berbatov/Owen
  • Scorecast options: Rooney/Berbatov/Owen score 1st & Man United win 2-0/3-0
  • Double Result: Manchester United Half Time & Full Time

Birmingham City vs Manchester City

(Sunday - 4.00pm)

The TV cameras have picked a very interesting game here with Birmingham City & Manchester City having different end of season targets but both definitely targeting this game with the same motivation to win so it should be a good, competitive game.

Birmingham City are trying to build towards a points total that will keep them safe in the Premier League & they will certainly be intent on building on their impressive win against Sunderland which was a much need boost having suffered a period of poor results.

That victory over a strong Sunderland side was well deserved & did demonstrate that Birmingham City are well organised & certainly can compete on their best form.

Alex McCleish will know that he cannot match Manchester City in terms of player for player quality, but he will look to balance that up by making Birmingham City solid, well drilled defensively & keep play compact to try & deny the attacking quality of Manchester City the possession & space it thrives on.

Mark Hughes will be desperate for his Manchester City players to prove their worth in this game & get a win to shake off their disappointing run of three consecutive draws in the Premier League & only 1 win in their last 5 league games.

Mark Hughes could not hide his disappointment in dropping two points against Fulham after throwing away a two goal lead & he will be determined to make sure that his players keep their focus & concentration for the whole game because a lack of concentration has been a definite & costly factor in their poor results.

The key to this game for Manchester City will be the ability of their creative, attacking players to break down Birmingham City's strong resistance & their attacking pace is likely to be a big factor so the likes of Wright-Phillips & Bellamy are likely to be big players in this match if selected.

Birmingham City are a very proud side & their latest home win will have given them a massive confidence boost but the price on offer for a Manchester City win looks well worth taking & Manchester City do look well worth a bet to get a very important away win here.

Betting Recommendations:

  • Outright Match Betting: Manchester City to win
  • Correct Score options: Manchester City to win 2-0/2-1
  • First goalscorer each way/Player to score anytime options: Tevez/Adebayor
  • Scorecast options: Tevez/Adebayor to score 1st & Manchester City win 2-0/2-1
  • Double Result: Half Time & Full Time
